Cleveland Heights High School standout Gabriel Pewu is the latest in a growing list of talented young players to join AFC Cleveland in 2017.
Pewu accumulated a whopping 53 goals and 23 assists during his high school career with the Cleveland Heights Tigers, where he served as captain for two years. Pewu received Second Team All-Ohio honors as a result of his accomplishments.
After graduation, Pewu joined the Cleveland State Vikings, where he scored two goals and recorded one assist during his freshman season. He also was awarded the Horizon League Player of the Week award as a freshman.
Pewu also played for various local clubs as a youth player, including Cleveland Select, PFC, East Side Kickers, and Ambassadors FC.
Pewu is looking forward to meeting his new teammates and further developing his game.
“I am excited to play for AFC Cleveland this summer because I will have the opportunity to play with high-level players who will push me to be a better soccer player,” said Pewu. “I am extremely blessed for this opportunity and I look forward to helping the team to win back to back championships!”
Pewu and the rest of the Royals will start their season this Saturday, May 13 against Dayton Dynamo. Both season and individual tickets are still available at afccleveland.com/tickets.
