Forward Riley Grant has agreed to return for the 2016 season. Riley, who also plays for the Penn State Nittany Lions, is a native of Cleveland Ohio and this will be his second season with the Royals.
“I knew a lot of the guys last year and the year before,” says Grant. “Carter is a great coach and we had a really good team last year so I thought it was definitely an easy choice.”
Grant was a pivotal part of Penn State’s offense last season, starting in every one of the team’s matches. During the 2015 season, Grant scored one goal and assisted three, a form he hopes to carry into the summer with AFC Cleveland.
“I’m coming trying to stay hot. I had a good year so far in school and this spring so looking to carry that over in the summer with the team,” says the forward.
Overall, Grant is hopeful for the Royals’ chances this summer and is ready to follow on the success of last year’s campaign.
“It seems like we’re going to have a really good year this year too,” says Grant.
Fans can see Riley Grant and the rest of the Royals back in action on May 14, when he suits up for AFC Cleveland’s 2016 NPSL home opener against Indy Eleven NPSL.
