The NPSL Midwest Region has revealed the division alignment and schedule for the 2016 season. The region will be split into two divisions this year, unlike the single-table format in 2015. AFC Cleveland’s division rivals will include FC Buffalo, Erie Commodores FC, FC Indiana, Indy Eleven NPSL (formerly Indiana Fire NPSL), and Rochester River Dogz FC (expansion club). Teams within the division will play each other twice – once at home and once on the road – totaling 10 matches.
“The landscape of the Midwest changed quite a bit this year,” said President & CEO Terry Lawriw, “so we had to make some changes to the setup to accommodate for teams that left and teams that came in.”
As a reward for being a regional finalist in 2015, the Royals have earned a berth into the First Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, taking place in early May. League play opens at home on May 14 against the Indy Eleven NPSL.
