AFC Cleveland is pleased to announce that assistant coach Aaron McGuiness has been promoted to the position of head coach for the remainder of the
2014 NPSL season. Andy Hoggarth has left the position after becoming the head coach for men’s soccer at Slippery Rock University.
“We want to thank Andy for his service to AFC Cleveland and the NE Ohio soccer community,” AFC Cleveland President/CEO Terry Lawirw commented. “We wish Andy all the best. We know that he is going to lead Slippery Rock to new heights and tremendous success.”
Hoggarth’s time with the Royals was incredibly successful, winning both the Rust Belt and Presidential Cups in addition to a Great Lakes Conference title. His expert tutelage has helped players develop their game at both the collegiate and professional levels.
AFC Cleveland is not the first stop for Hoggarth on his coaching journey.
Hoggarth has served on the staffs of the University of Akron and Shenandoah University in addition to serving as head coach at Thiel College.
“We’re excited to have Aaron here to lead the Royals,” Lawriw added. “We know that he is incredibly capable and will pick up where Andy left off.
He will make sure that there are many bright days ahead for the Royals and their supporters.”
McGuiness currently serves as the head coach for the Thiel College women’s soccer program.
