AFC Cleveland is proud to announce the signing of midfielder Mitch Griffiths, forward Adam Mitchell, and defenders Sean Sikich and Christopher Fairley.
Griffiths, a Jackson HS (Massillon, OH) graduate, spent his freshman season at Ashland University before joining Notre Dame College in 2013. He was named First Team All-State, First Team All-Region, and First Team All-District during his senior year of high school.
Griffiths would see action in 12 games for NDC in 2013, finishing with one goal from 262 minutes of play.
Mitchell played for Ashland University from 2011-2012 before joining Notre Dame College. The Brighton, England native was a star for the Falcons in 2013, leading the MEC with 14 goals and being named MEC Offensive Player of the Year. His greatest honor was being named to the 2013 NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II All-America Third Team.
“Adam comes highly recommended from the staff at Notre Dame College and was sought after by a number of teams for this summer,” AFC Cleveland head coach Andy Hoggarth commented. “His physical presence and eye for goal will be a welcome addition to our forward line.”
Sikich, a returning player from the Youngstown area, has been a workhorse for the Bowling Green Falcons. He has started an incredible 43 games, contributing three assists from his backline position. All of the assists came on game-winning goals, including two “golden goals” at BGSU’s Cochrane Field.
Fairley, a Scottish defender, led Stirling HS to the Central District League title and finished as the top goal scorer in his final season there. He appeared in 19 games for Notre Dame College in 2013, registering one goal and two assists in 911 minutes played.
AFC Cleveland opens their 2014 NPSL season on the road against Fort Pitt on Friday, May 16 at 7:00 pm ET.
