AFC Cleveland is proud to announce a partnership with Cleveland Metroparks. The AFC Cleveland and Cleveland Metroparks partnership will continue throughout the year with joint marketing activities and promotions.
The agreement has both sides working together to promote the sport of FootGolf, a hybrid of soccer and golf, at two Cleveland Metroparks golf courses. FootGolf will be coming to Mastick Woods and Shawnee Hills Golf Courses beginning April 12 and AFC Cleveland will be at Mastick Woods to get things started.
“We’re proud to work with Cleveland Metroparks, AFC Cleveland Chairman Terry Lawriw stated. FootGolf is an interesting take on the beautiful game and we feel that Clevelanders will enjoy trying something new.
Mastick Woods Golf Course in Rocky River Reservation has an 18-hole FootGolf course certified by the American FootGolf League. Shawnee Hills Golf Course in Bedford Reservation offers players a nine-hole FootGolf course.
To introduce this new sport to Cleveland, a free “FootGolf Kick Off” will be held at Mastick Woods on April 12, with events running from 9 a.m. to noon.
Attendees can participate in “Play with a Pro” playing a nine-hole round of FootGolf with representatives from AFC Cleveland. Contests will run throughout the morning with prizes such as FootGolf passes, tickets to AFC Royals games, and T-shirts. The FootGolf event will also feature warm-up activities and autograph sessions with AFC Cleveland players and coaches. Anyone who wears a soccer jersey to Mastick Woods Golf Course after noon on April 12 can play FootGolf for half price.
