The leader and captain of AFC Cleveland in 2012, Carter Poe, will be returning to the squad this campaign to wreak havoc in midfields of the Great Lakes Conference once again. Carter, who will be graduating from Duquesne University, has officially signed to be a Royal through the 2013 season. He was the captain of last year’s team from the beginning, leading them to a season that saw them ending as conference champions. With or without the ball, Carter served as a vital player in the organization who quickly gained the respect and notoriety of his peers, coaching staff, the fans, and opponents. Having started all matches but 2 due to NCAA student/athlete obligations, Carter directed the team from the defensive midfield position where he anchored a defense that proved to be one of the toughest to score against in the NPSL.
Andy Hoggarth, Head Coach, “I am delighted that we have Carter back with us this year. Last season he was a great leader for us on and off the field and has outstanding technical ability. I think we are very fortunate to be able to re-sign him.
Aaron McGuiness, Assistant Coach, “Carter was one of our most consistent players last year. He has many abilities and a tireless work rate. We look forward to having him as part of the team again.
