AFC Cleveland Signs Dan O’Callaghan for 2013 Season

AFC Cleveland would like to announce the signing of NEW Royal, Dan O’Callaghan. O’Callaghan becomes the 2nd new player to the AFC Cleveland roster, stemming from his performance last season for Hiram University and in last December’s AFC Cleveland tryouts. From Aberdale, Wales, O’Callaghan will provide Royals defense with exceptional size and strength. His 6’2″ frame and physical presence will give the team another brick wall to feature on the back line. O’Callaghan brings a list of notable accolades from center back during his tenure at Hiram. This past season as a Senior, he was an All-Great Lakes Region selection and was also named  First-Team All-Conference (NCAC) for the second time. He anchored the Terriers defense that  allowed just 1.14 goals per game and 5 shutouts. In his 4 years at Hiram, the defense allowed just 1.34 goals per game with a total of 17 shutouts. On the offensive end last season, he was able to produce 10 points total, scoring 4 goals and dealing 2 assists.

Andy Hoggarth, Head Coach, “Dan impressed me at the tryouts with his defensive qualities and his tenacity. I believe he will add intensity and a physical aspect to our game.”

Marquis Walker, Assistant Coach, “Dan will be a great addition to our back line. He is a solid defender with a big, physical presence. He doesn’t shy away from 50/50 challenges both on the ground and in the air.”
