AFC Cleveland Re-signs Phil Spagnolo for 2013 Season

AFC Cleveland will have the services of Phil Spagnolo for another NPSL season, signing him for  an extension through 2013. The Mount Union graduate is yet another signing to the Royals back  line, providing more depth to an already-resilient cast of defenders.  Spagnolo stepped onto the team as a utility defender last season, sharing time at both center  back and outside back. With a handful of starts in 2012 and time as a substitute, he provided  key minutes in the Royals defensive rotation, proving to be one of the most tenacious back lines  to score on. Phil was also instrumental in assisting AFC Cleveland in its community outreach. He  served as a youth instructor at many of the AFC Cleveland youth camps and was present for all  team appearances and player autograph sessions.

Andy Hoggarth, Head Coach, “Spags had a great work ethic and embodied the spirit which we had in  the team. He provided some good utility in the defensive third.”

Aaron McGuiness, Assistant Coach, “Phil brings a great work ethic and energy to the team. We’re happy to have him back.”
