AFC Cleveland Signs Greg Marchand for 2013 Season

AFC Cleveland is proud to announce its first NEW player signing, Greg Marchand, to the Royals 2013 NPSL roster. Marchand, a senior defender from Wright State University, brings exceptional strength and athleticism to the Royals back line. Marchand’s abilities provide coach Hoggarth and his staff great flexibility in the AFC Cleveland game plan. His on-pitch aggressiveness and relentless will quickly make Greg a Cleveland fan favorite.

Prior to Wright State University, Marchand was a First Team All-Ohio selection with Jackson High School, located in Central Ohio. He was a 4-time All-Ohio ODP selection; and played his club soccer with the USSF Internationals Academy. Additionally, Greg was a 3-time All-Federal League squad member.

Andy Hoggarth, Head Coach, “We’re excited to have Greg along. He brings us stability in the back line and can serve as a utility defensive midfielder. He will give us the strength in depth that we will need to have with our full schedule this season.”

David Schmac, Director of Player Personnel, “Greg’s been a target of ours for a long time and I’m very happy he’s joining the Royals for next season. Everything we’ve seen and heard of him were proven when he performed for AFC Cleveland early this winter. He’s an intense competitor and will fit in well with the Royals work ethic.”
